Philosophy
Music is a world language. I teach each student, regardless of age, in response to their individual tastes, style and motivation. I have taught students from 2 to 84 years of age. All lessons are filled with laughter and empowerment. Bach, Beethoven, Blues, Beatles, and Brubeck and you and I, all have spoken the language of music. The tools for the language of music include: improvisation - - technique - - music theory They are all a joyful means to an end, of making your own music. They must be taught to you in a way that you can embrace quickly and meaningfully. A lifetime of pleasure with all kinds of musical experiences has given me the tools to help adults and children to begin creating their own history with music. TIP FOR SUCCESS When signing up for lessons be sure that there is time energetically and mentally for practice. My students who have had the most success are pursuing two maybe three interests - sports, etc. Those who have had something every day of the week really can't handle finding practice time and don't get to enjoy the full impact of music as a part of their lives. |
